Civil & Resilience Engineer (EIT)

Overview

The ideal Civil & Resilience Engineer/EIT candidate will have outstanding communications skills, a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and perform high quality work, and a strong desire to learn by doing. The position requires a working knowledge in stormwater, water resources, structural engineering, and a degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Support the development, pursuit and delivery of planning and design projects associated with flood risk management and resilience related to sea level rise, coastal storm surge and rainfall flood risk.

  • Support all stages of project development, from precipitation/climate scenario development, hazard analysis, vulnerability/risk assessments, alternatives analysis and prioritization through conceptual design including hardened engineered structures, natural-based solutions, and other non-structural approaches (e.g. land development codes, design criteria, comprehensive plans, policy, etc.);

  • Collect, review, process, and manage data in support of engineering analyses utilizing programs such as ArcGIS, Excel, Matlab and other modeling platforms;

  • Perform engineering analyses and calculations under the supervision of a licensed
    Professional Engineer;

  • Prepare technical documents and reports under supervision of an experienced engineer/professional;

  • Support drafting efforts for design projects, including flood protection and
    waterfront design; and

  • Communicate with internal and external clients.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • BS or MS (preferred) in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution;

  • Certification as an Engineer Intern (pending or active);

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Excel, and ArcGIS;

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills;

Engineering Support Services Manager

The Position
Under the general direction of the Director and/or Deputy Director, this is a highly responsible position consisting of managerial, administrative and professional engineering work of considerable difficulty, planning, directing, analyzing and coordinating engineering design, construction and construction inspection of municipal engineering projects. This position is responsible for managing engineering division staff and budget. Work is reviewed through conferences and written reports for results obtained. 

  • Provides engineering and project management to the Development Services or Public Utility divisions (stormwater, wastewater, and water services); prepares capital improvement project budgets; prepares cost estimates for complex projects.

  • Supervises engineers, architects, inspectors, supervisory and technical staff.

Work includes implementation of computer based operations using AutoCAD and GIS software and/or other application software to support the Engineering, Transportation and Mobility Division. Project Geotechnical Engineer

Gannett Fleming’s Geotechnical, Dams, & Hydraulics Practice is currently seeking a Project Geotechnical Engineer to join the Jacksonville, FL office. The Project Geotechncial Engineer will assist in the completion of geotechnical projects within a wide variety of business sectors, with a focus in water resources, dam and levee engineering, and soil-structure interaction. 
 
As a Project Geotechnical Engineer, you should possess experience with the planning and execution of subsurface investigation programs; completion of various geotechnical analyses and design including seepage and slope stability of earthen embankments, shallow and deep foundations, and retaining structures; development of construction plans and specification deliverables; and performing dam and levee safety inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Perform geotechnical calculations for various projects including, but not limited to seepage and slope stability of earthen embankments, shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, tieback anchors, soil nails, slope stability design and/or stabilization.

  • Perform dam and levee safety inspections.

  • Assist in the preparation of written reports and documentation, geotechnical correspondence, design and construction drawings and specifications.

  • Assist in the planning of subsurface explorations and laboratory testing investigations.

Experienced Civil Engineer - Military Airfields

Mead & Hunt, Inc., a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, has an exciting opportunity available for an experienced civil engineer to join our aviation team. Responsibilities include designing and leading aviation engineering projects related to military airfields; evaluating and analyzing existing projects; preparing reports, budgets, cost estimates, specifications, plans, schedules, studies, and permits; leading proactive client interactions and communications with military clients; performing QA/QC tasks including leading design reviews; serving as the project manager and mentoring project staff; and serving as the onsite project engineer on construction projects. A valid driver’s license and travel will be required.

 

The successful candidate will have all of the following:

  • a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in civil engineering; or related field

  • at least five years of relevant experience (at least four years of experience must be in military airfield design)

  • a PE license in any state

The ideal candidate will have experience with any/all of the following: AutoCAD Civil3D design software; leading the development of plans, specs, reports, cost estimates, and submittal packages for military projects; Specs-In-Tact software; PCASE software; project QA/QC including leading design reviews; preparing scopes, fees, and contracts.
