Senior Engineer

Lake County

The essential function of the position within the organization is to perform complex professional civil engineering work in the research, design, development, review and coordination of County road, park trail and stormwater projects. The position is responsible for supervising subordinate staff; serving as project manager; coordinating grant projects; serving as liaison to the public, boards and commissions, and other agencies as necessary; and performing related professional, administrative, technical and supervisory work as assigned. The position works independently, reporting major activities through periodic meetings. This position is required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

SALARY IS $61,900.80 - $102,003.20 DOQ.

Minimum Qualifications
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Requires a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering or a closely related field. Requires Professional Engineering certification. Requires a valid Florida driver’s license.

Experienced Civil Engineer - Military Airfields

Mead & Hunt, Inc., a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, has an exciting opportunity available for an experienced civil engineer to join our aviation team. Responsibilities include designing and leading aviation engineering projects related to military airfields; evaluating and analyzing existing projects; preparing reports, budgets, cost estimates, specifications, plans, schedules, studies, and permits; leading proactive client interactions and communications with military clients; performing QA/QC tasks including leading design reviews; serving as the project manager and mentoring project staff; and serving as the onsite project engineer on construction projects. A valid driver’s license and travel will be required.


The successful candidate will have all of the following:

  • a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in civil engineering; or related field

  • at least five years of relevant experience (at least four years of experience must be in military airfield design)

  • a PE license in any state

The ideal candidate will have experience with any/all of the following: AutoCAD Civil3D design software; leading the development of plans, specs, reports, cost estimates, and submittal packages for military projects; Specs-In-Tact software; PCASE software; project QA/QC including leading design reviews; preparing scopes, fees, and contracts.
